Blodget Studios was built from an old barn that was dismantled, moved to the artist's property,
and rebuilt and redesigned as a passive solar heated building.

Heat is provided by a greenhouse on the front and south side of the building. Black 50 gallon
drums of water collect and store heat from the sun. Heat may also be conserved during periods
of dark, or of continuous cold weather without sun breaks, by covering the glass with styrofoam
shutters.
